The Common Problems with Web Design and How We Fix Them

Whether you choose an agency or a freelancer, many websites seem to be designed with the sole aim of impressing every visitor. While this may sound appealing, the reality is that an over-the-top design often sacrifices user experience, making navigation difficult in an attempt to stand out.

For small businesses, especially those just starting out, websites should prioritize effectiveness over flashiness. A flashy design may grab attention for a moment, but an effective website converts visitors into customers. Our approach is to create websites that are intuitive and user-friendly, resulting in higher conversion rates. At the same time, we ensure the design remains visually appealing and memorable for both you and your audience.

What Does The Process Look Like?

Initial Website Discussion

We begin with a phone or Zoom consultation to discuss your project in detail. This includes determining the number of pages, outlining the goals of your website, and understanding your vision for its design. We will also discuss all timelines, the revision process and answer any questions you may have about the process or technical capabilities.

Content & Building

Once we’ve outlined the project, you’ll provide us with the necessary content, images, and any other requirements. From there, we’ll begin building the website. Depending on the scope and size, this process typically takes 2-4 weeks. If you don’t have content, or would like us to handle content creation – this will be discussed during our first steps.

Revisions & Testing

After the website is built, we’ll enter the revision phase. You’ll provide feedback, and we make any updates or adjustments to ensure the website aligns perfectly with your expectations.

Launch

Once all revisions are complete and you’re fully satisfied with the website, we proceed to the final step – launching your website and making it live for everyone to see!

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take to make my website?

The timeline of course depends on the size and type of website. A standard 5 page website can take as quick as 2 weeks from initial meeting to launch. A larger 15+ page website may require 5+ weeks. If you have a specific deadline, we can work with you.

Do you outsource your work?

No we do not. We are a Canadian Company that employs Canadian Citizens, with all the work being done in-house. We occassionally will work with remote contractors and freelancers in North America for special projects.

What does the development/building process look like?

After our initial call and discussion, we will build out the home page of your website with your content and based on your requirements. We do this by sending you a private link to our development server where you can view and get a feel for your website in real time. At this stage we will review and make any revisions that are neccessary. Once everything is 100% we will continue with the remaining pages and have a final review before launch.

Will there be any unexpected costs?

In most cases, you won’t face unexpected charges. Custom functionalities, such as integrating MLS listings, advanced booking forms, or unique widgets, do take extra time and would be billed hourly if required. However, for the majority of websites, these customizations aren’t necessary and are typically included in the standard package. You won’t see additional fees unless we expand the project’s scope.

How easy is it to make my own changes?

All our websites are built with the client in mind. We want you to have full access to your website, making sure you can edit, update and add content. We also offer post launch support here for more tutorial sessions if you have any specific questions. On the other hand, if you’re hosting with us, we also complete any minor changes (within reason) free of charge.

What happens after launch? Does my website require frequent updates?

If you’re hosting with us, our servers have been setup to handle daily backups and notify us of any major issues. Most websites only require less than an hour of maintenance each month, which is also included.
